Service Dogs for Disabled Veterans
Top Tier K9, in conjunction with private companies, counselors, veterinarians, hospitals, and through our nationwide affiliate program will be offering service dogs to disabled veterans.
We will be offering an advanced, stand alone service dog trainer program with Top Tier K9 Service Dog Trainer Certification for people who desire to learn to take existing foundation dogs and train them as a service dogs but do not want to learn to train pets or imprint/train the puppies to become foundation dogs. We will be imprinting up to 2,400 puppies per year through our foundation dog program using puppies obtained through our affiliate network and bred on-site at Top Tier K9.
We are building a database of disabled veterans in need of service dogs
We will train the disabled veterans in the care, maintenance and support of a service dog
We will match the appropriate foundation dog with the veteran.
We will finish the foundation dog for the veteran's specific medical service needs at affiliate locations and on-campus at Top Tier K9. The veteran will participate in this finish work and be trained to maintain the training.
The veteran and the dog will certify as a team through Top Tier K9's Certified Service Dog and Owner program
We will provide on-going maintenance and support to the veteran and his service dog
Top Tier K9 service dogs perform additional duties for our veterans. Examples include:
Service Dogs that also hunt: Qualifying Disabled veterans can have a medical service dog that also hunts (birds, tracking retrieval). The foundation dogs selected for this finish work are primarily Labrador retrievers.
Service Dogs that also protect: Qualifying veterans can have a medical service dog that also protects him, his family and his property. The foundation dogs selected for this finish work are primarily Belgian Malinois, GSD/Mal mixes, and Rottweilers.
Service Dogs that perform in sports: Qualifying veterans can have a medical service dog that also performs in sports such as AKC, IPO, and Ring Sports. The foundation dogs selected for this finish work can be of any breed
Service Dogs that search for explosive devices, narcotics, or other specific odors: Qualifying veterans can have a medical service dog that also searches and indicates on specific odors. The foundation dogs selected for this finish work are primarily Belgian Malinois, GSD/Mal mixes, and Labs. This additional duty allows the disabled veterans to use their service dogs to make a living, searching houses in their community for the presence of narcotics, bed bugs, explosives or other needs within the community.
