Tracking is absolutely the most important thing to teach a working dog immediately after separation from the litter. Confidence and independence are increased and all future nose work is improved; to include narcotics and bomb detection, scent discrimination, and search & rescue/destroy.
A young puppy building his confidence and independence in tracking, will be a better protection dog for you and your family and will be able to track the bad guy if he escapes
Obedience is Critical
Obedience is a critical attribute to successful tracking and knowing what to do with your puppy, and at what point in the imprinting process is an important part of planning.
Every training requirement and their dependencies are outlined in Top Tier K9's training programs. Knowing WHAT and HOW to teach your dog means little if you don't know WHEN to teach him.
We teach dogs how to track. Once they are proficient at tracking, we add the odors that you want your dog to track. Humans are a default but we can even teach your dog to SUCCESSFULLY track a wounded deer.
